How does this home study course work?
Home study courses are not just about learning technical content, but teach you to use what you have just learnt, in a business context.
The home study courses consists of four compulsory modules in phase one. Thereafter participants choose three further modules from phase two, to complete the Certificate in Business Office Information Systems.
Work through
the training materials
At the start of each module, you will receive the relevant training materials, a copy of the current assignment and the assessment criteria. You will then work through the training materials supported as necessary by your on-line tutor.
Complete
the assignment
When you have finished the Microsoft Office training materials, you should then be able to complete the assignment. Look at the assessment criteria as you work through the assignment to ensure that you cover all the required elements. When you have completed the assignment, return it to the Course Administrator.
You will then be sent the next module study materials, assignment and assessment criteria.
Assignment
is marked
Your assignment will be marked by your tutor and independently moderated. Your work will normally be returned to you within three weeks together with feedback on the module assessment criteria form. On receipt of this, you should contact your on-line tutor who will discuss the feedback with you.
Higher Education Certificate
Students may optionally choose to continue on the course and study for the Certificate of Higher Education in Business Office Information Systems (Cert. HEBOIS). In order to gain this Higher Education Certificate it is necessary to complete a third phase. This involves choosing either a further six modules fromPhase Two, a further two modules and undertake a project.
We estimate that each module will take 20 hours to complete, but many people are completing the modules in less time.
