I agree that compressing files before they are sent e.g. Excel files are important and its useful to learn.
 
I remember on the last module I did compress my files because I could tell by the file size on my home computer against the original ones before I sent them online.  
 
The only thing I found that Winzip wasn't letting me do was when I tried to drag the actual files into the Winzip window, to then allow only one compressed file to be seen.  I don't find Winzipping to be a problem at all but for reason it doesn't always let me do what I want it to do.  Anyway thanks for your advice Alex.  I'll keep going with this assignment.

At the recent Award Board is was mentioned that we need to look at the issues of students not complying with things like not compressing files etc. We shall be formally doing this from September.

However there is a more fundamental reason for compressing the files before they are sent, and that is if files (especially Excel files) are simply attached to an email and not compressed, they are likely to get blocked by anti virus filters and as such wont get here in the first place!!

Hi
 
I wondered if there were any given or not due to losing marks in this area on another module i.e. compressing files. Therefore before I submit the module I am doing at the moment, I know that this part of the section isn't included anywhere in the mark scheme.

Hi Vertity. I dont think that there are specific marks for submitting by Winzip or similar - its part of the overall assignment requirement.

Does anyone know what percentage mark is given when students have to submit any piece of work using Winzip or similar software?  If so, where on the assignment sheet is it displayed.

No, they should be included in the same workbook. i.e., we dont want each chart in a separate workbook !!

Hi all,
After getting through modules 1 & 2 with no problems, Task 1/2 of Module 3 is confusing.  The last sentence of task 2: All Charts should be included in the workbook that you created in Task 1.  Should I have created a chart as part of Task 1?  Help!!
